I know if I bought a Steam Deck it definitely wouldn't be the lower tier, weak 128 or 256 gigs of space it offers

The non-OLED Steam Decks are going super cheap now, brand new... or especially 2nd hand. The 256gb is fine, since you can pop in an SD card. It would tide you over til Switch 2, anyway.
