There can't be that many people trying to buy mainland in second life that it's actually worth holding onto and paying tier for in hopes of selling it right?

There’s a huge swath of land available at the mainland region where I have my store (second life), and I could technically own it, but the person who has it wants nearly 200 USD to let go of it lol

It's a long standing issue. Part of the problem is the land barons, some of whom are really chummy with LL from what I understand. But there's also a gimmick of people putting up land for insane prices because they don't /want/ people to buy it and just can't afford it right now.

Enough people exist that there is a market. The problem comes with land barons who make thousands of not millions of dollars off of virtual retail snatching up all the land and turning it around, or dicing it up to rent out and people selling land for insane prices because they still want the land-
