Like, I was looking for a mesh body, and ... I found Maitreya X, with someone else's logo plastered over the "Maitreya" logo That's just downright disgusting, honestly

Like, the reason creators ask to be paid for these things, is because it's work. It's hard. It's a lot harder than ripping some mesh out of Second Life and slapping some scripts on it for OpenSim. It takes months of work

Like, the concept of OpenSim is awesome: Open protocol, open source. Thousands of grids connected to each other that you can travel between seamlessly. The cost for entry is zero, or near zero, and you can just get land, build, and meet people.

But then you meet people, and more than half of the people you meet seem to be the ones who thought to themselves, "If it's okay to still from the mega rich, then it's okay for me to steal from people who can't afford to eat" And that makes me cringe

But also, in order to not be fully negative here: It's open source, open protocol. There are no set rules. So, I can build a space where stealing from creators and generative slop gets you kicked out 🤷‍♀️ That's at least something

To be fair, SL is full of the same theft. A LOT of vendors steal or buy models from other illegitimate sources and upload them to SL with little to no editing in 3d software before at best shoving some pre-made scripts and such in them. OpenSim from what I understand is just far worse about it.

Yeah, that's true. I guess both SL and OS have their fair share of people who don't give af about artist and creators. And yeah I wish it wasn't so in your face on OpenSim lol
