Hearing only this sound takes me back to chatrooms, The Sims 1, "You've got mail!", internet forums, Geocities, etc.
But hey, you can still get your forum dripfeed on one of my fave community websites, Melonland

Part of that has to do with broadband internet and dial-up dying in most places. Because you typically wouldn't be "online" anywhere until you dialed into your internet provider, and then AIM boots up and your friends hear the little door sound
The real "we lost this thing as millennials in a post-90s society* is the absence of instant messaging apps like AOL Instant Messenger
There's nothing quite like having to wait for someone you want to talk to, to actually come online, rather than having 24/7 access to them
Legit though I get where this guy is coming from, but I don't think he gets where Trevor fans are coming from
Steven Ogg continually trying to rationalize to people that he is not Trevor or a cartoon, just makes him sound more and more like Trevor, the "cartoon" Grand Theft Auto character
This was either written by someone who's 50, or someone who's 70, neither of which are millennials.
I got on a computer in 1991 and I never stopped
I used to feel like I wanted to be in _everything_ Apple, until I spent a year on a Linux desktop, and then Apple started failing customers by over-promising on AI that ended up being garbage and released a 3000 dollar headset that sucks
I got rid of a bunch of my Apple subscriptions, mostly cause I don't read their news, don't use their fitness programs (I have a Nintendo Switch), and I'll just use Spotify because scrobbling actually works
But I had to keep Apple TV for the continued Severance saga
hot allostatic cheese pizza; it's what's for dinner

So, here on Bluesky, I've got just a single content box that's very limited in characters. Feels like this could be improved.
Not gonna lie, one of the things that would entice me to use @bsky.app more often, would be if the profile fields were more personal and expansive.
This is what my profile looks like on an Akkoma instance I hang out on
every time I load up Watchdogs Legion I'm constantly thinking, "this is exactly the fascist hellscape I would expect London to be in 5 years"
my @ is my website domain, hosting the credentials on my VPS

welcome to my smog vortex
Second Life is my only real way to fully express myself currently, irt gender and my self expression, and it's a shame, because I have a whole homestead where I've built a city, and I mainland stay to myself and talk to almost no one 😂
spending my morning chugging flue meds, messing with proxy servers for a guestbook script that just will not work, time to start from scratch
Bailey has been given so many numerous "second chances", even after faking her own death, while myself, someone who she manipulated for years, only scrapes to find some kind of community, if ever again
she's a predator who targets vulnerable trans women and shit like this serves only to enable that behaviour
