dev tip: if your Rust builds feel slow, run `cargo build --timings`. it writes an HTML report to target/cargo-timings/ showing how long each crate took, what was waiting on what, and when your CPU sat idle. handy for spotting the one dependency holding everything up, or a crate getting built twice in different versions.
