Discover Fedi, Now on F-Droid!Follow me via: Today, I got home from work a little early, and decided to do a few things. I’ve been working on a lot lately, in fact, I just finished my latest album! But, I’ve also been making updates here to my website, and I’ve had a lot of changes ready to go for Discover Fedi as well, which now includes a welcome page with more information that I feel is real important to understanding how it works, and links I want people to visit (like my own). But, that’s not all! With a flurry of keyboard smashing, and exploring options (this was actually suggested to me by a user on the Fediverse), I’ve got Discover Fedi working as an app via F-Droid!
When I originally started this project, I wanted it to be on iOS and the official Play Store, … but, this costs a bunch of money, and there are a lot of review processes, and checks, and balances, and basically, a big stinking wall in front of what I want to do. Annoying stuff. Stuff I don’t want to deal with. Thankfully, there’s a third party app store on Android, and you can sign the certificates yourself, and get everything running relatively easily. Which is what I’ve done. If you don’t have F-Droid installed on your phone, go here. And then head on over to the Discover Fedi repo page, and in the F-Droid settings where you’ll want to add a repo, scan the QR code on this page. Once it installs, you can use it exactly the same way that it’s used on the web app version, except you don’t need to have it running in a browser! I’m done updating it for now, but I’ll be making changes periodically, so keep an eye on updates!
