I’ve been mulling some things over, thinking about how I like Akkoma, but don’t really like how there’s multiple points of contact I have to check in order to keep things up-to-date. Plus, updating Akkoma itself, like, the backend, is more involved than I feel like dealing with. And then, on another hand, the entire admin process is also really convoluted, and uses its own front-end, as well. Something else to keep up-to-date!

So, since I had my GoToSocial instance in hibernation, rather than deleted, I decided to put it back online, and then re-migrate myself and my bot account back over to that instance.

GTS can be updated with one script, and it maintains that early internet vibe I initially really liked it for.

Plus! (Pro Max), mobile notifications work with GTS? You just sign in on mobile, and you start receiving notifications. Something I just haven’t been able to get working with Akkoma.

Anyway, I look forward to keeping tabs on the progress of development on GTS again, such as … having an easy way to allow people to follow me directly from my profile!
