Hello Pillowfortnite, it’s been a little while since I’ve posted here, and that’s mostly because I’m constantly scattering back and forth between social websites due to the fact that, once Twitter died, I kind of lost my feeling of centrality on the internet.
I think I’ve got the handle on that though, because, even though I post here, I post on ActivityPub, I post on Bluesky, you know, I’ve been running a website this whole time.
So, what I did was, is I decided to make my website the central place of balance of my internet presence. In that, along with blog posts on the main feed on the site itself, it now also features “notes” and “logs.
Notes are basically social media posts that I’ve written directly onto my website, as well, with links to their social media counterpart (as if it’s syndicated), and logs are just me posting changelogs about my site.
It creates this unique kind of opportunity to turn my website into my own personal social feed.
… if only I could figure out an easy way to create a note, build it via Jekyll, and then push it to github and then Neocities … via my phone!
I know one way I could do this, but it’s kind of a major project to setup, and I’ve got this feeling in my brain juice that I could probably think of an even easier way to do it.
Maybe.

I was auto-traveling in #KingdomComeDeliverance2 and I got stopped by wolf attacks on a group of travelers. So … basically, both of those travelers got chased off, and/or died to the wolves, so I stole the horse they left behind.
And it’s just been with me ever since?

I’m so close to turning my website into a single user social media platform, that, literally, the only thing I’ve got left as the biggest hurdle is figuring out how to post to the site from my phone, with little effort. About as improbable as connecting Jekyll to ActivityPub, but I will do it.

So, somehow, or some way, Tumblr staff finally got back to me after having banned my Tumblr account for 3 months, and then told me that none of the content on my blog violated their TOS. It is now restored. I’ve also restored the random Reddit / Lemmy posting I was doing via Python

With this post, I’m testing functionality of using a Python script to post the full content of a feed item from my website to Tumblr, with some links and what-not at the bottom. This, will, of course, update to all sources that receive my RSS feed, but if you’re viewing this from Tumblr, specifically, this should show the full text, with a link to the original feed item, plus a link to where you can find me on Mastodon.
Let’s pop this baby in and see what happens.

My game so far in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has been littered with … ridiculousness. I started the game (after the prologue) wanting to find the camping spot where all my buddies were apparently murdered, and got side-tracked looking for quests. Upon finally finding some, I descended about a few of them. One … in which you’re tasked with stealing a lute, and then finding new strings after they break it, and so on.
Basically, I’ve murdered three people in order to get and maintain a lute for no other reason than a hopeful reward? haha
But I did get my dog back.
Problem is, there are a few dead bodies hiding around that nobody’s found, yet …

I’m made a lot of progress on the website. All of my Mastodon posts are feeding in-ward and posting automatically as separate feed items, and the RSS is out-ward processing Posts, Logs, and Notes as feed items for subscribers separate from Mastodon to read. And, now, feed items also (should) post to Tumblr as if they’re regular posts.
What’s next?

Love when people I’m mutuals with on social media, with whom I’ve interacted with for well over a year, suddenly start posting generative slop, and ask to be paid for generative slop via Patreon, as if I’ve never posted about how disgusting, destructive, and in violation of literally everyone’s consent such things are.

Sitting in the endless dark of my room, spitballing ideas on how to make my website more friendly to be posted to from my phone, outside of just posting to Mastodon, and waiting for my local script to fire. It’s an endless grind, and there are a few solutions. But none of them are a simple as, open an app > post.
I will solve this problem! … erm, someday.

Plopping out a little update, cause I don’t have time to write a whole blog post, but the forum has gone offline because the obtuse update process reset the whole entire thing back to the initial installation

I don’t have time to write a full article with fleshed out explanations, but for those interested in making a switch to ActivityPub (the network that runs Mastodon, among other software), I’ve put together a short list of instances for those unsatisfied with Bluesky’s latest example of not being able to make proper decisions for their community.

I don’t know what the heck I should use this “notes” post type feature on my website for. I can make short form posts with it, but there’s got to be some kind of useful thing I can do with notes that isn’t just a social media post directly to my website
